Preclinical and Clinical Development of RNA Vaccines: From Innovation to Clinical Application
Exploring the development pathway of RNA vaccines
As part of the VISION project, a workshop on “Preclinical and Clinical Development of RNA Vaccines” brought together expertise in RNA-based therapeutics, vaccine innovation, and clinical development.
The workshop was organized by Wafa B’chir from Connect’Innov and Imène Najjar from Biomics at Institut Pasteur, providing participants with insights into the scientific and translational processes involved in bringing RNA vaccines from research towards clinical application.
Expert perspectives on RNA therapeutics and vaccine development
The session featured two speakers with complementary expertise in the field.
Patrícia Neves, Head of RNA Product Development at Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz, presented insights into mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines, exploring their development and potential applications in biomedical innovation.
Sotiris Missailidis, Head of Vaccine Innovation Development at Institut Pasteur, addressed the clinical development of vaccines, highlighting key considerations in translating vaccine candidates into clinical research.
Together, these perspectives offered participants a broader understanding of the development pathway for RNA-based vaccines, from product development and preclinical research to the clinical stages required to evaluate their safety and performance.
Encouraging scientific exchange and knowledge sharing
The workshop fostered active discussion, with participants raising questions and engaging with the speakers on topics related to RNA vaccine development. These exchanges highlighted the interest in this rapidly evolving field and the importance of connecting expertise across research, innovation, and clinical development.
Advancing biomedical innovation through VISION
By facilitating access to specialized knowledge and encouraging interaction between experts and participants, the VISION project contributes to strengthening scientific capacity in emerging biomedical technologies.
This workshop supports the project’s broader mission to bridge research and innovation, foster knowledge exchange, and equip the scientific community with expertise relevant to the development of next-generation vaccines and therapeutics.
