Leadership and Management: Developing Skills for Scientific Innovation

Strengthening leadership capabilities within the VISION community

As part of the VISION project, an online training session dedicated to Leadership & Management brought together expertise in leadership, entrepreneurship, and the management of innovation. The session was delivered by Wafa B’chir, CEO and co-founder of Connect’Innov, and featured a guest contribution from Muriel Bardor, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Alga Biologics.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of leadership and management practices, highlighting their importance in guiding teams, making strategic decisions, and supporting the development of scientific and entrepreneurial projects.

From management principles to practical leadership

Led by Wafa B’chir, the session introduced practical tools and perspectives to help participants reflect on their leadership approaches and management practices.

Effective leadership extends beyond technical expertise. It involves setting clear objectives, communicating effectively, supporting collaboration, and adapting to the challenges that arise when managing people and projects. These capabilities are particularly relevant in research and innovation environments, where multidisciplinary teams must work together to translate ideas into tangible outcomes.

Industry perspectives: Connecting scientific excellence with strategic leadership

The session also featured Muriel Bardor, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Alga Biologics, who shared insights at the intersection of scientific expertise and strategic leadership.

Her contribution highlighted the importance of combining scientific excellence with a broader understanding of organisational strategy and the challenges of developing a biotechnology company. This perspective offered participants an opportunity to consider how leadership decisions can shape the direction, growth, and impact of science-driven organisations.
