Protein Production and Purification: From Gene Cloning to Bioprocessing

As part of the VISION Project, a two-day online training on Protein Production and Purification brought together early-career scientists and life science professionals to explore key concepts and approaches in protein biotechnology and bioproduction.

The training provided participants with an overview of the complete protein production workflow, covering both native and recombinant protein production. Across the two days, participants explored topics ranging from gene cloning strategies and expression optimisation to protein purification and characterisation.

The programme also addressed the broader considerations involved in developing protein production processes, including bioprocess scale-up and regulatory requirements. By covering both scientific principles and practical considerations, the training offered participants a comprehensive perspective on the different stages involved in producing and characterising proteins for research and biotechnological applications.

The sessions were delivered by experts from the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera “Torlak”, providing participants with insights into different aspects of protein production and bioprocessing.

The activity also fostered knowledge exchange between VISION partner institutions and provided early-career researchers with an opportunity to expand their understanding of technologies and processes relevant to modern life sciences and biomanufacturing.
