VISION Benchmarking Visit to Serbia: Advancing Collaboration and Scientific Excellence

The VISION consortium concluded an intensive 3.5-day (December 7-11, 2025) Benchmarking Visit at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera “Torlak” in Serbia. This visit provided an exceptional opportunity for partners to deepen collaboration, exchange expertise and explore new perspectives for future joint actions.

Day 1 – Strengthening the Consortium

The visit opened with presentations from the consortium’s new partners, who introduced their institutions, areas of expertise and planned contributions to the VISION Project. These sessions helped reinforce mutual understanding and set the foundation for productive discussions throughout the visit.

Day 2 – Sharing Scientific Knowledge and Exploring Facilities

The second day featured a rich scientific program, attended both in person and remotely. Presentations covered a broad range of topics, including:

  • Molecular genetics
  • Pre-clinical studies and immunology
  • Protein engineering and biochemistry
  • mRNA vaccine technologies

The day continued with a guided tour of the Torlak Institute’s premises and laboratories, offering participants valuable insight into its scientific infrastructure and operational capacities.

Day 3 – Focus on mRNA Innovation and Clinical Research

A dedicated third day focused on the Institute’s mRNA vaccine laboratory. Participants had the opportunity to explore ongoing mRNA projects in greater detail, attend equipment demonstrations and gain insight into cutting-edge laboratory processes.

The program also included a guided visit to the clinical research laboratory, highlighting Torlak’s capabilities in translational and clinical research.

Building the Future Together

These 3.5 days were marked by intensive learning, meaningful exchanges and renewed inspiration. The visit further strengthened the partnership among VISION consortium members and reinforced the shared scientific ambition driving the project forward.
